One Great Dish: S'mores At Allium

By Melissa Wiley in Food on Feb 20, 2013 8:20PM

There’s lots of food of which we freely beg for more once we’ve licked our plate spitshine clean. But from their appellation alone, s’mores clearly take the cake, and we can’t disagree—after all, they're even better than cake. Unfortunately, life doesn’t often allow us to sit round the campfire on a mossy tree stump, smoking our marshmallows to a blue-flaming cinder while blacking our teeth with indecent quantities of chocolate on the sly.

What it does occasionally permit, however, is stepping into our fancy pants and strolling over to Allium in the Four Seasons, where we can lounge in front of a marble fireplace and feast upon a $10 serving of decidedly urbane s’mores, an opulent confection of milk chocolate mousse, toasted marshmallows, and smoked chocolate gel that will have you humming "kumbaya" all the way down the elevator.

Yes, the price tag is a bit steep. But it’s called decadence and we’re fond of it, particularly where desserts, just or not, are concerned. And we want some more.

Allium is located at 120 E. Delaware Place.
