Even At Historic Lows, The Great Lakes Would Swamp A Lot Of Eurotrash

Great Lakes over Europe, same scale [MostlyHarm1ess]

All the talk about historic low water levels in Lake Michigan have had us thinking a lot about the size of the Great Lakes. Even with receding shorelines, an ecosystem containing 1/5 of the world’s freshwater is pretty huge---but try explaining that to people on the East or West Coast who have no concept of the importance or ginormous scale of the Lakes. That’s why this map that appeared in a recent Buzzfeed post superimposing the Great Lakes over portions of central and Western Europe really struck us. Our freshwater playground is bigger than some of the countries at the heart of the Old World!
