Join Us! Chicagoist Reader Meet-Up At Nisei Lounge On March 28
By Samantha Abernethy in Arts & Entertainment on Feb 26, 2013 5:00PM
Join Chicagoist for a few drinks on March 28 and help raise a few bucks to help at-risk youth in Chicago. Your Chicagoist writers will be behind the bar as guest bartenders collecting tips for UCAN, an organization working with Chicago's youth since 1869.
UCAN is a social service organization with a mission to build strong youth and families through compassionate healing, education and empowerment. Their full continuum of services includes violence prevention programming, a therapeutic youth home, a therapeutic day school, support for pregnant or parenting teens, counseling, foster care placement, workforce development and youth leadership development. UCAN has recently launched the Chicagoland Institute for Transforming Youth (CITY), which is focused on addressing the violence crisis in Chicago and providing youth with a safe place to mend, learn and grow. To learn more about UCAN, visit their website.
As for the location, Nisei Lounge is one of the only tolerable bars in Wrigleyville. It has the oldest liquor license in Wrigleyville (founded in 1951), and it has maintained its laid-back, divey charm despite its environs. Play darts, pose in the photobooth, say hello to your favorite Chicagoistos and wash it all down with a shot of Malort. And then put a few bucks in the bucket for a good cause.

Nisei Lounge is at 3439 N. Sheffield Avenue. Join us on March 28 from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m.
