Do You Love Cheese Fries?

Fresh, crispy french fries are probably our favorite junk food. With a crazy for every more convoluted iterations of poutine sweeping the city, we've been getting an urge to go back to basics. Who needs gravy and fixins when you can have cheese?

Amy Cavanaugh, Chicagoist's weekend editor and one of our favorite people to eat with, rounded up sixteen of her favorite cheese fries for Serious Eats Chicago. We didn't even know there were sixteen different places that served cheese fries, let alone that one would be able to tell them apart. But Amy, using her hypersensitive palate and her apparently impervious cardiovascular system, has travelled the city far and wide to bring you the best.

Some names on the list will probably sound familiar. Hot Doug's, DMK Burger Bar, Au Cheval, Weiner's Circle and Little Goat are places that get tons of coverage. On the other hand, how many of you have had the kimchi fries from Del Seoul? Or the Vegan Cheese fries at Pick Me Up? There are plenty of gems to discover on this list.
