Celebrate Polar Bears At Chicago Zoos

Today is International Polar Bear Day, and Chicago's Lincoln Park and Brookfield zoos are celebrating this week with special polar events. While adorable, polar bears are terrifyingly the largest land-based predator on Earth. They've also become the poster children for the effects of climate change, as rising temperatures disrupt their habitat.

At the Lincoln Park Zoo, polar bear experts are holding chats in the Polar Bear Plaza at 11:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. all week. At Brookfield Zoo, the Chicago Zoological Society at the is taking Polar Bear International's Thermostat Challenge to raise awareness about how our daily actions impact polar bears and the sea ice habitat.
