Do This: A Ladies-Only Whiskey Class With Jo Snow Syrups

2013_2_28_JoSnow.png Last year, we attended an event hosted by Bourbon Women, an organization that, like Barley's Angels, aims to encourage women to learn about spirits. It was a remarkable tasting, devoid of much of the snobbery and chest-thumping that often accompanies such events, and we had a great time. Now, Jo Snow Syrups has teamed up with the "Whiskey Sister" Hillary Lake, head of the Chicago Chapter of Women of Whiskey, for a ladies-only cocktail night of their own on March 4.

It's no secret that Jo Snow syrups make amazing cocktails, and founder Melissa Yen has been helping mixologists all over town come up with new flavors. For this event, she has paired with whiskey ambassador Armando Zapata to create cocktails from four different whiskeys: Jack Daniels, Collingwood Canadian Whisky, Old Forester Bourbon and Woodford Reserve Bourbon.

Yen will pair each bourbon with a different syrup to create a cocktail, and those in attendance will name them. There will also be a tasting, some whiskey education and snacks. All of that for just $20.

Tickets are selling fast and space is limited, so go ahead and buy them online. Scroll down to the second event, labelled "Whiskey Cocktails Mixology Course." The event runs from 6:30-8:00 p.m. at English Bar & Grille.

English Bar & Grill is located at 444 N. Lasalle Street.
