Restaurant News: Hoosier Mama Cookbook Coming, Texas De Brazil Evicted

2013_2_28_Hoosier.png - We were very excited to receive our catalog from Agate Publishing this weekend. We already knew about the Hot Doug's book, but we hadn't heard that Hoosier Mama Pie Company had a cookbook deal. The cookbook is by Paula Haney, the owner of the secrets to the most delicious pies in the world. The book is due out in August. She told DNA Chicago she wouldn't be holding back any secrets, and that the book would have 124 pie recipes. We're stockpiling pie tins in anticipation.

- We wrote a few months ago that Eataly, Mario Batali's Italian mega-food court would be coming to River North. Things got complicated when Eataly decided that the former ESPN Zone space wasn't big enough and they also wanted Texas de Brazil. Not a problem, said the landlord — Texas de Brazil wasn't paying its rent and the landlord exercised a clause in the lease to terminate the agreement. However, Texas de Brazil refused to leave, citing an ambiguous clause in the lease. Well, fans of Eataly rejoice (and fans of Texas de Brazil can cry into your steak skewers), since Eater reported earlier today that a Cook County Judge ordered an eviction. Eataly can now proceed to bring billions of cannoli to River North.
