The Blackhawks have been winning ugly these past two games, but the bottom line is that they're winning. The Hawks' record now sits at 19-0-3 through 22 games after a shootout win at Joe Louis Arena. The Hawks have now earned points in 28 straight games dating back to March 2012 and tied the 1976-77 Montreal Canadiens for the second longest points streak in NHL history. (The record is 35 games set by the 1979-80 Philadelphia Flyers.)

Hawks goalie Corey Crawford and his Detroit counterpart Jimmy Howard were locked in a tight contest the first two periods. Detroit looked as though they might end the streak when Tomas Tatar put a wrist shot past Crawford. The Red Wings then challenged Chicago between blue lines to shake the Hawks off their puck possession game before Patrick Kane forced overtime (and extended the streak) with a wrist shot with just over two minutes left in regulation. Crawford and Howard remained tough in goal after a scoreless overtime forced a shootout until Kane used a stutter step move to freeze Howard and send a wrist shot past him. Crawford then saved a Henrik Zetterberg shot to seal the win for the Hawks.
