Elderly Man Shot And Killed On His Way To Dialysis Treatment

A 72-year-old man was robbed, then shot multiple times just as he left his home in the Brainerd neighborhood. William Strickland was ambushed by two men as he walked out the side door of his home around 3:30 a.m. Saturday for dialysis treatment. He died in a gangway on his property.

The robbers took a bag containing a pillow for his dialysis treatment and his wallet. Three gold chains were still on his neck, and his cell phone was still in his pocket. Strickland's daughter said she doesn't think it was just a random robbery.

"I feel as though it was up close and personal because they knew the exact time he was coming out the house, and he’s been making this dialysis trip for four years, same time,” Lesley Strickland told CBS.

A PACE mini-van was parked out front waiting for Strickland, and the same driver had been picking up Strickland for years to take him to his usual dialysis appointment. The driver witnessed the shooting, and a neighbor said she heard three shots. Strickland's wife was just inside the door locking up, and Strickland's grandson was in the home. No arrests have been made.
