Smith Westerns Announce New Album For June; Listen To First Single "Varsity" Now

The enfant terribles of Chicago garage rock scene have announced a new album, Soft Will, for June 11, to be released on Mom + Pop records. Listen to first single "Varsity" here.

The Smith Westerns' last album, Dye It Blonde was a polished, impressively produced effort that ultimately played as hollow ear candy because of its somewhat lackluster songwriting. ("[o]n repeated listens, the core songwriting on Dye It Blonde begins to wear thin pretty quickly," Tankboy astutely observed). Previously, the absurdly youthful band had rocketed to lo-fi consciousness for their raucous singles and their debut album, both released on Hozac Records.
