Tour De Fat Returns To Chicago July 13

New Belgium Brewing announced the schedule for its 2013 Tour de Fat tour Monday. Notably missing from the list of cities are Los Angeles, Austin and Milwaukee. The tour still makes its regular Chicago stop July 13, most likely at Palmer Square, where it’s called home in recent years.
As always, the highlight of the Tour isn’t the music, festivities, carnival atmosphere or even the ample quantities of New Belgium beer. It’s to see if one bold soul will trade in his car for a bicycle and a commitment to commuting by bicycle for a year. Chicagoist has spoken with two to take that challenge, most recently Bill Bushnell of Elmhurst, who spread the $2,250 he received from new Belgium in exchange for his car and bought a new bike and winter riding gear.
