The official snowfall total at O'Hare Airport Tuesday was 9.2 inches. That's the highest snowfall total to hit the area since that little storm front two years ago that brought 21.2 inches of thundersnow upon us.

That isn't enough for the Weather Channel to send Jim Cantore to Chicago to stand outside. It is enough to bring Chicago's cumulative snowfall total to 29.5 inches, just shy of where we should be at this point in the season and 10 inches more than what we recorded last year.

The snow was packing very well at Snowbrawl last night, which is a sign — along with the growing moats of slush on the streets — it won't be around for long. The forecast for the weekend calls for the mercury to climb to the levels they should be or the season. A mix of rain and some possible snow are also in the cards for Sunday. If those numbers and the extended forecast hold, we could be ringing in Spring on schedule.
