Honey Butter Fried Chicken, La Sirena Clandestina Team Up For Fried Fish And Chicken Dinner

By Chuck Sudo in Food on Mar 7, 2013 7:15PM

Chicagoist has been following the progress of Honey Butter Fried Chicken for quite some time, from appearances at underground dinners and Dose Market to their securing a space for their upcoming restaurant on Elston Avenue.

While Josh Kulp, Christine Cikowski and company work to polish their space so it's ready for business, they're teaming up with La Sirena Clandestina for an evening of fried chicken and fish March 24. La Sirena's John Manion, after years of being a fixer at places like Old Oak Tap, Goose Island Clybourn and Branch 27, is back to doing what he loves in a space he owns and is turning out some of the best mid-priced dishes on Fulton Market and, when we last spoke with Manion in December, he told us the first quarter of 2013 would be the time he would change out some of the items on the menu.

One of those was some fried fish that so wowed the HBFC crew they decided then and there to collaborate with Manion on the dinner with an eye toward, among other things, smelt season. Combined with some Latin-influenced sides and LSC's amazing cocktails and this has the makings of being a night to remember. Cost is $55 per person.

La Sirena Clandestina is located at 954 W. Fulton Market. Call 312-226-5300 for reservations.
