Morning Box Score: Blackhawks Are Cardiac Kids; Spurs Spike Bulls

Blackhawks 3, Colorado 2

The Hawks keep setting new records with every win or overtime game. Their record now sits at 21-0-3 after a frenetic win against the Avalanche at the United Center. Their overall points streak, dating back to the 2011-12 season, now sits at 30 games. Their record win streak was extended to 11 games and Ray Emery became the first NHL goalie to start a season winning his first 10 games. But they had to scramble in the final 20 minutes to do it. Down 2-1 after two periods, Jonathan Toews tied the score with a shorthanded goal 2:19 into the third period. The game looked headed to overtime before Daniel Carcillo — Daniel Carcillo — scored the game winner with 49.3 seconds left in regulation. It's easily the highlight of Carcillo's career with Chicago, which has been marred by knee injuries.

We'll use that as a segue to address the Hawk's mounting boo boos. Marian Hossa was scratched from last night's game with the mysterious "upper body injury." Andrew Shaw, who scored a first period goal, left the game late in the second period. Patrick Sharp is the one to watch. He left the ice holding his shoulder at 7:49 in the third period after a hit by Ryan O'Byrne. If any of these players miss extended playing time it could tax a Blackhawks team that is already light on forwards. The Hawks travel to Colorado Friday night.

San Antonio 101, Bulls 83

While speculation continues to run rampant about when or if Derrick Rose will return to the court this season, the Spurs were without their All Star point guard in Tony Parker. No matter when Tim Duncan and Manu Ginobili are on the court. Duncan and Ginobili scored 18 points each and the spurs tightened the defensive screws on Chicago in the second half to win this one easily. San Antonio was down by as many as 14 points in the first half and held a five-point lead at the half. But San Antonio held the Bulls to 30 percent shooting in the second half. Another key statistic was the Spurs' 42-27 edge in defensive rebounds. Marco Belinelli led all scorers with 21 points. Luol Deng added 19 for the Bulls.

In local college basketball scores, Syracuse routed DePaul 78-57.
