Friday Afternoon Diversion: What Does The South Side Irish Parade Mean To You?

By Chuck Sudo in Arts & Entertainment on Mar 8, 2013 9:15PM

The South Side Irish Parade began as a family-oriented event that, over the decades, became co-opted by every cliche about the Irish that can be trotted out. Last year's return of the parade to those community roots was welcome to many in the Beverly, Morgan Park and Mount Greenwood communities who remember those early years.

Here's a video created by Ryan Bolger in which Beverly resident Beth Tesmond describes her memories of the early formation of the parade as if it happened yesterday. It's part of a series of videos Bolger produced about what the parade means to different people.
