Parade
Is it that time of year already? The more family-friendly South Side Irish Parade kicks off at noon March 10 on South Western Avenue, from 103rd Street to 115th Street. This is the second consecutive year the South Side Irish Parade Committee has worked to keep the light beer-swilling "Chi-Rish" away from Beverly and they've posted their security plan outline detailing parking restrictions, checkpoints and other measures being taken to ensure public intoxication is at a minimum. Remember: City Council passed an amended parade ordinance allowing for stricter fines and jail time if you decide to be a drunken idiot at the parade.
Bicycling
Here's another reminder about Saturday's Chicago Bike Swap March 9 from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. at the UIC Physical Education Building. (901 W. Roosevelt Road). Admission is $10 and, even though some vendors can accept credit and debit cards, organizers recommend bringing cash. The forecast should be perfect for you to actually bike there.
