The Blackhawks points streak had to end and probably in the ugly manner in which it did in Denver Friday night. Colorado, which proved it could skate with the Blackhawks at the United Center Wednesday night, caught them flatfooted and lethargic at the Pepsi Center. The Avs scored five consecutive goals between the first and second period, including power play goals to Paul Stastny and Ryan O'Reilly, and Colorado had an open door policy on Corey Crawford as the Hawks suffered their first regulation loss of the season. Crawford was lifted for Ray Emery in the third period and admitted he didn't bring his "A" game. Jonathan Toews and Bryan Bickell scored Chicago's goals.
The Bulls got back on a winning track at the United Center Friday night thanks to a Marco Belinelli jumper with 5.9 seconds left in regulation. It was Belinelli's third game-winner of the season and capped a 22-point night. It was the first time in Belinelli's NBA career he's scored 20 points in three straight games. Carlos Boozer scored 22 points and grabbed 10 rebounds against his former team and Nate Robinson added 14 points for Chicago.
In local college basketball scores, Green Bay defeated UIC 74-73 in the Horizon League Tournament.
