Actor Ed Asner’s publicist said his client is expected to be released from a Gary, Indiana hospital Wednesday after he was hospitalized for exhaustion Tuesday. Fox News called the incident for the noted liberal-leaning actor “worrisome onstage behavior.” Potato, po-tah-to.

Asner’s son Matt told TMZ doctors ruled out a stroke and that he was “doing well and very grumpy, which with him is always a good thing." Asner’s publicist Charles Sherman said he was “resting comfortably” while doctors conducted tests to determine the cause of the incident.

Asner, best known for his portrayal of Lour Grant on The Mary Tyler Moore Show and the spinoff series Lou Grant, was in Gary performing a one-man play based on President Franklin Delano Roosevelt at the Marquette Playhouse when he began having trouble with his lines as soon as the play — which started 45 minutes late — began. Backstage crew members escorted the 83-year-old actor from the stage after about 15 minutes and he was rushed to the hospital. While in Gary he conducted an acting workshop the Chicago Sun-Times called “spirited.”
