Every year, the Fiction Writing Department of Columbia College Chicago hosts Story Week: Festival of Writers. During Story Week, they celebrate many different forms of storytelling and writing by hosting a series of readings, workshops, and panel discussions, all of which are open to the public.

The festival officially kicks off March 17 with some writing workshops for alumni and the public, and then a big party at Buddy Guy's Legends featuring storytellers from 2nd Story. There are multiple events every day next week, but some of the ones that jumped out at us were a conversation, reading, and book signing with Sapphire at the Harold Washington Library on Monday, a tribute reading to Ray Bradbury on Tuesday afternoon, a panel about getting your work published on Thursday afternoon, and on Thursday evening, the Literary Rock & Roll event at Metro, featuring readings from Gillian Flynn, Jane Hamilton, and Joe Meno, with music by The Right Now.

So, if you're a writer looking for some inspiration or guidance, or an avid reader who likes to delve deeper into stories and see where they come from, there's a myriad of things happening in the city for you next week.
