Two Dead After Private Jet Crashes Into Indiana Homes

Two people were killed and three others hospitalized when a small private jet crashed into three homes in South Bend, Ind., on Sunday. Wesley Bryan Caves, 58, and James Steven Davis, 61, died in the crash. Davis was a University of Oklahoma quarterback who led his team to two national championships in the 1970s. Caves was the pilot of the twin-engine Hawker Beachcraft.

Three people remain hospitalized, one of whom was on the ground when the plane crashed. Several homes in the area remain under an evacuation notice.

The plane took off Sunday from Richard Lloyd Jones Jr. Airport in Tulsa. Davis and three other passengers were heading to the South Bend Regional Airport when the pilot reported electrical problems shortly after 4 p.m. According to the South Bend Tribune, at 4:26 p.m. the plane briefly touched down, took off again and crashed into three homes.
