Record Store Day isn't the only event that Chicago vinyl geeks have to look forward to in the spring. Back for its eleventh year, the CHIRP Record Fair returns to the Chicago Journeymen Plumber's Union on Saturday, April 13.

Its longevity alone should speak for the success of the fair, but the event has long been lauded by the local media and music lovers in the city. This year, however, the Record Fair will have a slightly different schedule. In the past it's been a two-day affair, but this year CHIRP has condensed the event into one eleven-hour day. CHIRP Radio, a publicly funded online radio station, cites dealer requests and costs as the reason for the change.

Records are the obvious focal point of the fair but dealers are open to sell vintage zines, posters and other memorabilia that will tickle the heart of any diehard music fan. Irazu and Handlebar will offer food. As for beverages, there will be beer from Goose Island and coffee from Dark Matter.

Per the norm, hardcore record hunters can add an extra price tag to their admission for early bird access from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. &mash; a chance to get in on the goods before the big crowd. General admission begins at 10 a.m. and lasts until 7 p.m. Early bird tickets are $25 and general admission is $7.

PRO TIP: Bring a flyer, ad or this coupon to the door and receive $2 off your admission price.
