Seven people were shot at a club in the Gresham neighborhood Wednesday night during an album release party for 13-year-old rapper Lil Mouse.
According to the Tribune, at least one gunman opened fire at Mr. G's Entertainment Center after a fight broke out and someone threw a chair just after 1 a.m. ABC7 reports there were three gunmen. Hundreds of people were in the club at the time, and the crowd panicked and fled the club. Casings were found inside and outside the club. Police say the shooting appears to be gang-related, but the cause is not clear.
All seven victims are reportedly in stable condition, and six of them were able to get to hospitals on their own. The Tribune reports:
Three people showed up at Advocate Christ Medical Center: A 19-year-old woman, a 21-year-old man and a 23-year-old man. A man in his 20s was taken to Holy Cross Hospital and another man, 21, showed up there on his own. Two others, a 26-year-old man and a 36-year-old man, went to Little Company of Mary Hospital.
Lil Mouse has stirred up controversy with his graphic language and references to violence, drugs and misogyny that rapper Rhymefest say qualifies as "child pornography." Watch Lil Mouse's new music video for the song "No Talking" below. We didn't happen to see a gun in this one.
