A double dose of Shakespeare plus a kid-friendly Alice makes it into this week's stage round-up.
Taking place at the Underground Wonder Bar, Wayward Production’s reimagining of Richard III swaps royal families for motorcycle gangs and a lavish castle for a bar in 1970s Pittsburgh. Shakespeare purists, beware. The show runs through Saturday, April 20.
Wayward Productions, Underground Wonder Bar, 710 N. Clark St., visit waywardproductions.com for more info.
Take the kiddos to see the stage version of the Lewis Carroll classic, and they’ll forget all about the Disney movie. Plus, Marriott Theatre knows who’s paying for the tickets, so it’s bound to be fun for adults, too. The show runs through Saturday, May 18.
Marriott Theatre, 10 Marriott Dr., Lincolnshire, 847-634-0200 or online.
You heard right — Chicago Shakespeare Theater is mixing up the classic tale of jealousy and betrayal with a hip-hop adaptation of Othello. Worth a visit, if only to figure out how they plan to beat-box to dialogue in iambic pentameter. The show runs through Sunday, April 28.
Chicago Shakespeare Theater, 800 E. Grand Ave., 312-595-5600 or online.
