Weekend Blotter: Two Killed, 12 Wounded In Weekend Violence

  • Two people were killed and 12 people were injured in violence citywide.

  • A 26-year-old man was shot and killed while standing on the street near his home in the South Shore neighborhood early Sunday morning.

  • A 24-year-old man was charged with the stabbing death of his father early Sunday morning at their South Side home.

  • As for the 12 wounded: two people were stabbed Sunday evening in the Chatham neighborhood; a couple both suffered stab wounds in a domestic altercation Sunday evening; a 14-year-old boy was shot in the buttocks Sunday afternoon in McKinley Park Sunday afternoon; a 25-year-old woman was shot multiple times in the South Shore neighborhood; a 35-year-old man was shot in the Austin neighborhood; a 30-year-old man was shot twice in the McKinley Park neighborhood; a 21-year-old man was shot in a drive-by in Lawndale Saturday morning; two cousins were shot in a drive-by early Saturday morning in the Rogers Park neighborhood; a 23-year-old man was shot while walking his dog in the Humboldt Park neighborhood early Saturday morning; and a 21-year-old man was shot in the Englewood neighborhood Friday evening.

  • Also, a 30-year-old man was shot in the forehead in the Chicago Lawn neighborhood after an altercation with another driver involving his car being double-parked.

  • The man accused of shooting and killing a cab driver earlier this month "has the mental capacity of child," and his mother said he was peer pressured into doing it.

  • A man was walking down the street in west suburban Bellwood when he was shot in the back. He collapsed outside of a church, and a nurse helped treat him until ambulances arrived.

  • Police are investigating the shooting death of a 17-year-old Calumet City boy, who they believe accidentally shot himself.
