Film

Fall in love in the Alps and flee from the Nazis with song all over again with the sing-a-long version of The Sound of Music at the Music Box Theatre 2 p.m. March 30. Dress up as your favorite Von Trapp or governess as there's a costume contest. Everyone gets a fun pack and a lyric sheet so there's no excuse not to sing.

Music

Delmark Records' West Side Soul series at B.L.U.E.S. on Halsted March 31 will feature vocalist/guitarist Jimmy "Bar Room Preacher" Johnson with guitarist Dave Specter and his band. Johnson, the older brother of soul singer Syl Johnson, didn't release his American debut album until he was nearly 50 but has made up for lost time since. (2519 N. Halsted St., 9:30 p.m.)
