Blue Line Delayed After Train Hits Tire On Tracks

By Amy Cavanaugh in News on Mar 30, 2013 8:00PM

If you're taking the CTA Blue Line today, expect delays: this morning, an inbound train hit a tire that was on the tracks and started a fire in the lead car of the train. There were no injuries, but the power to the tracks was cut so the fire department could put out the fire.

The incident occurred near the 1800 block of West Ogden Avenue, near the Medical Center station, around 11 a.m. Trains have been suspended between the Pulaski and UIC Halsted stations, and are operating in two sections: between O'Hare and UIC/Halsted and Pulaski and Forest Park. There are shuttles providing connecting service between the stations.
