The Cubs have a winning record! Now let's see how long they can keep it. This was the Cubs' first opening day win since 2009.

Anthony Rizzo got the Cubs off to a smashing start with a two-run homer into the bleachers in the first inning. Pitcher Jeff Samardzija struck out nine and allowed only two hits over eight innings. The Pirates scored in the ninth inning against Carlos Marmol, and after a couple of goofs Marmol was replaced by Kyuji Fujikawa who got the save.
