Bacon, depending on who one asks, has either jumped the shark, is an ongoing fad with no signs of ebbing or is an indelible part of our culture. We’re leaning to the latter: the record time that Baconfest Chicago 2013 sold out is a sign that, if the candy from the pig isn’t a phase, it has at least jumped over a shark, circled back, kicked the shit out of said shark, and continued on its merry way.

Bacon milkshakes, to that end, aren’t original or unique, but the way they’re made at Nana Organic sure is goddamn tasty. They start with whiskey infused with bacon and cinnamon. Then they add a single shot to a vanilla milkshake. Whipped cream is optional; the strip of chocolate-covered bacon is not.

It’s simple, it’s effective. It’s a marvel and you should order one if you’re heading out to 33rd and Halsted for your brunch plans this weekend.

Nana Organic is located at 3267 S. Halsted St.
