Weekend Blotter: Four Killed, 21 Wounded In Weekend Violence
At least four people were killed and 21 people were wounded in citywide violence from Friday night to Monday morning.
Kevin Sanders, 33, was shot and killed Friday night around 11 p.m. in the South Chicago neighborhood, and an angry mob demanded retaliation outside the building in which the shooter hid. Police managed to extract the shooter, who had been wounded, amidst an unruly crowd.
Miguel Cancel, 19, was shot and killed while in a car waiting at a stoplight around 2:40 a.m. Saturday in the Old Irving Park neighborhood. Two other people in the car were wounded in the shooting.
Larry Ranole, 28, was fatally shot in the back in the Longwood Manor neighborhood around 1 p.m. Saturday.
Jonathan Santiago, 19, was fatally shot in the chest when two gunmen opened fired on a group of people in the Humboldt Park neighborhood around 2:45 a.m. Saturday.
Three people were shot and critically wounded in a shooting in the Greater Grand Crossing neighborhood on Sunday afternoon.
The man whose body was found in the Marquette Park lagoon on Friday had been stabbed to death, but authorities have been unable to identify the victim.
