A decapitated goat was found in a Cook County forest preserve Monday and Forest Preserve police are investigating whether it’s connected to the severed goat’s head that was delivered to Wrigley Field last week.
The goat, according to the Sun-Times, was discovered bound to a tree near Indian Boundary Golf Course by a golfer around 10 a.m. A dead chicken was also found nearby, plucked and mangled. Golfers on the course quickly made the connection between the goat and the incident last week, although Forest Preserve spokeswoman Karen Vaughn told the Sun-Times this is the third time in the past year a dead goat has been spotted in Northwest side forest preserves.
Chicago police are still investigating who delivered a goat’s head to Wrigley Field last week, addressed to team chairman Tom Ricketts. Mayor Rahm Emanuel called Ricketts after the incident and said the city was “on it” to determine if the goat’s head was a threat.
The goat found in the forest preserve was white and was buried by maintenance workers nearby, along with the chicken. Cubs spokesman Julian Green said he was unaware of the decapitated goat and couldn’t confirm if the head delivered to Wrigley last week was white.
