The Chicago Tribune devoted the front page of its sports section to pay tribute to Boston as the city recovers from the tragedy at the finish line of the Boston Marathon. The Tribune writes:
The explosions and injuries and death at a world-class sporting event such as the Boston Marathon make us heartsick. As much as it is anathema for a Chicago fan to root for any other town — especially Beantown and all of its championships — here we are. Hang in there, Boston."
In explaining the reasoning behind the message, Chicago Tribune sports editor Mike Kellams said, "We wanted to let Boston know that Chicago stands with it."
