Now in its fourth year, Chicago Craft Beer Week continues to grow and solidify itself as one of the city's premier beer events — a celebration of Chicago's growing craft beer scene and the people who have helped that explosion. In keeping with the quirks of the local craft beer scene, Chicago Craft Beer Week once again is an 11 day affair, from May 16-26, with over 205 taverns, restaurants and other venues hosting tastings, tap takeovers, tours and beer dinners with a singular theme, "Chicago: A City of Neighborhoods"

One of the breweries on the vanguard of Chicago's craft beer community is Half Acre Beer Company, which turned five last August but was too busy brewing beer and building out its new tap room to adequately celebrate. To that end, is Half Acre is rectifying that situation with a blowout at Ravenswood Event Center (4025 N. Ravenswood Ave.) May 17 from 7 p.m. until 11 p.m. Half Acre's party at Montrose Beach was one of the highlights of last year's Craft Beer Week and anyone who's been to their events know they can turn out a party like few breweries in Chicago. Those of you still smarting on not getting tickets to the opening night Beer Under Glass gala at the Garfield Park Conservatory should jump on this when tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. Here's the link for tickets.

Half Acre's anniversary party isn't the only event we're looking forward to during Chicago Craft Beer Week. We're also penciling in Spiteful Brewing's Tap Takeover at Four Moons Tavern May 17. SmallBar Division is turning over their taps to a Solemn Oath and Greenbush Brewing in a showdown of two of the best new breweries in the Midwest May 20. Riverview Tavern is hosting a celebration of women in craft beer May 21. And Lagunitas is ramping up for the opening of its Douglas Park facilities at with a tasting at Rock Island Public House in Blue Island May 23.
