Today's weather is being served to you wet, warm and muggy. The warm part will come later with a forecast high in the low 70s. But let's talk about the havoc these continuing downpours have brought. Commutes are hell right now: The Edens, Eisenhower and Kennedy expressways are closed in sections, but there are reports parts of the Kennedy at Addison have been re-opened. Low-lying areas of the North and Northwest sides are also closed due to flooding. Roads leading to O'Hare are also underwater. 300 flights at O'Hare and 10 at Midway have been canceled due to the weather.

As for public transit, the "L" appears to be running smoothly, but there is a slew of reroutes due to flooding and blocked streets. A sinkhole at 86th Street and Houston in the Deering neighborhood claimed three cars; one person was injured. Metra also has their problems with service as a result of the rain. The Chicago area is under a severe thunderstorm warning until 8:15 a.m. and, if we haven't mentioned it already, flood warnings are in effect for northeastern Illinois and northwestern Indiana. And it's so goddamn dark outside right now you may want to consider crawling back into bed.

Make sure your coffee is strong and your constitution stronger. Today is going to be a long day.
