There better be some darn pretty May flowers this year.
Flood fallout continues, and things may actually get worse before they get better.
The Des Plaines River continued to rise in the Lemont area, and the National Weather Service didn’t expect a crest of 14 feet — four feet above flood stage — until midday Saturday. Flood warnings were extended for the entire Chicago area until 7:30 a.m. Saturday.
As if the flooding this week wasn't enough, Chicago was treated to a snowstorm yesterday. Tom Skilling tweeted "Sticking snow Apr 19th? 0.2" Midway;0.5" Downers Grove. Our climate gurus Bill Snyder/Rich Koeneman rpt it's Chi's latest meas snow in 24 yrs."
That snow that resulted in dozens of cars spinning out on highways. Thankfully, there were no serious injuries.
Close to 20 cars crashed on toll roads, Illinois State Police Sgt. Anton Manuel said."The weather just took a turn for the worst before our units could get the roads salted," he said. "Seems like every vehicle that came through the area spun out."
Additional crashes numbering in the dozens were reported in the Chicago District of the Illinois State Police, which covers Interstates 90, 94, 57, 55, and 290.
Thankfully, there were no serious injuries.
