The Hush Sound Break Hiatus: New Tracks + Tour

By Sarah Cobarrubias in Arts & Entertainment on Apr 20, 2013 3:00PM

2013_4_HushSound.jpg It was some five years ago that The Hush Sound went on hiatus and broke our hearts. The Chicago staple specialized in shamelessly quirky pop, led by piano, guitar, and Greta Morgan’s warm, rich vocals/smoking hot bod (she also plays in her own project, Gold Motel). So, we were stoked when The Hush Sound announced that they’ve recorded some new material and are preparing for performances.

The band’s two new tracks, "Not a Stranger" and "Scavengers," were recorded earlier this year and deliver the warm and breezy summertime pop we loved them for in the first place. The band funded the recordings themselves, so they’re asking for donations for downloads—you can buy the tracks through the band’s site for a price of your choosing, starting at $1.

The Hush Sound will also be hitting the road for a month-long tour this May, and they’re making a stop at the Metro June 4. Also performing this show will be River City Extension and Genevieve Schatz (of Company of Thieves). Be forewarned that this is an all ages show, and these guys tend to attract a young and severely devoted fanbase. For now, here’s some video of the band discussing their reunion:

The Hush Sound play Tuesday, June 4 at the Metro, 3730 N Clark, 6 p.m., $22, all ages
