Welcome back to the salt mines, ladies and gentlemen. It's a bit chilly now but the weather is expected to improve in short order today. The forecast from Skilling Central calls for partly sunny skies and a high in the mid- to upper 60s. It's a far cry from the heavy-handed touch of gray we worked through last week. The Chicago River is slowly receding from last week's floods, as are other area rivers. There's still a flood warning for parts of the Des Plaines, Fox, Kankakee, Illinois and Iroquois Rivers. The Des Plaines River at Riverside has a flood warning in effect until Wednesday morning. Gov. Pat Quinn has declared 41 counties disaster areas. Travel on CTA and Metra are back to normal.
