Introducing: Gosling Island

As the water levels along the Chicago River continue to recede from last week’s flooding we become privy to freak events like this one discovered by the Chicago Rowing Foundation and its youth outreach offshoot, LPJ Chicago, recently near Goose Island.

The receding floodwaters led to silt and mud forming a smaller island about 50 feet from Goose Island, which LPJ Chicago claimed in the name of their organization as “Gosling Island.” (Get it? A gosling is a baby goose?)
Claim it as long as the river will let you.
