C2E2 Looks To Grow Bigger In Year Four

Now in its fourth year, the Chicago Comic and Entertainment Expo (C2E2) has grown to become the largest pop culture event in the Midwest. Last year’s version drew over 41,000 visitors and organizers are hoping to top that number for this weekend’s event at McCormick Place Convention Center’s West Building.
The celebration of all things nerdy features signings by comic book creators, actors, comedians and authors. Local fave Audrey Niffenegger will discuss her upcoming illustrated novella, Raven Girl at 5:15 this evening. Patton Oswalt, riding high on a week of good publicity, will partake in a Q&A at 12:30 p.m. April 27. Internet darling Felicia Day (The Guild) has her own Q&A at 6:30 p.m. this evening and will be signing autographs all weekend. Director Kevin Smith will host a sold out event April 27.
Guests can also dress up as their favorite comic book, movie or television character, even though the costume contests are all full. Cosplay is one of the most anticipated aspects of C2E2, and we love seeing the photos from the fest. There are also plenty of exhibitors selling comics, toys, games and other collectibles. There are even speed dating sessions for both straights and LGBTs.
