Streetsblog Chicago is hosting a reader meetup tonight from 5:30 p.m. until 9 p.m. at Haymarket Pub & Brewery (737 W. Randolph). Meet John Greenfield, Steven Vance and the rest of the Streetsblog team, discuss transportation issues and Haymarket's fine beers and food.

Great Britain is rich with good soul singers. Alice Russell deserves mention with Adele, Jessie Ware and the late Amy Winehouse, with fans in high places such as David Byrne, Groove Armada, ?uestlove and DJ/musicologist Gilles Peterson. Catch Russell tonight at Township where she headlines a bill with Esso Afrojam Funkbeat and DJRC. JC Brooks hosts. (2200 N. California Ave., doors open at 8 p.m.)
