Tickets To Slow Food Chicago's Annual Pig Roast On Sale Now

2013_5_8_slowfoodpigroast.png Slow Food Chicago’s annual pig roast, held on the loading dock of Goose Island Beer Company’s Fulton Street production facility, has become one of the highlights of the late spring/early summer gourmand calendar. The premise is still the same: Bring together Goose Island brewpub chef Andrew Hroza and five other chefs, give them each a heritage breed pig and let them go to town.

Over the years the Pig Roast has featured such chefs as Paul Kahan, Mark Mendez (Vera), Jared Wentworth (Longman & Eagle), Mark Steuer (The Bedford, Carriage House), Matt Troost (Three Aces) and Abraham Conlon (Fat Rice). What we especially love about this event is the vegetarians are never shut out completely — Slow Food Chicago and Goose Island always have a chef around to provide food for the selective herbivores. All the while Goose Island beers flow freely.

Joining Hroza this year are Paul Fehribach (Big Jones), Curtis Gamble (Bread & Wine) Beverly Kim, Rob Levitt (Butcher & Larder) and Jared van Camp (Old Town Social/Nellcote). Handlebar will tackle the vegetarian options while Nightwood’s Sarah Mispagel will take care of desserts. DJ duties will be handled by CHIRP Radio.

Tickets for the June 9 event are available here. The pig roast runs from 2 p.m. until 5 p.m.
