Smith Westerns announced they're pushing back the release of their third album, Soft Will, from June 5 to June 25. We know, we know, you are SO bummed!

Well, to ease the pain of havig to wait another few weeks for the LP the band just released the video for their first single, "Varsity," so you have something to focus on whilst swooning over the local boys until the end of June.

We found their last album enjoyable enough, and the new single holds no surprises as it continues down the path of dreamy pop that would've fit in a regular radio station's rotation one or two or three decades ago.* It's a positive harbinger of the album to come, but it still doesn't give away whether the young band has grown into its sound yet, or if they're still honing their craft based on their influences.

*Though we admit "Varsity" seems more precisely mid to late '80s to us. But it could fit anywhere a dozen years before or after then.
