You may remember Kim Leshinski from our profile on her in February our for Chicago’s Women of Craft Beer series. Kim is a talented label designer and writer for both the Illinois Craft Brewers Guild and her personal beer blog, Hail 2 The Ale. She can now add Chicago Craft Beer Week event producer to her resume, as she presents Real Women of Craft Beer at Riverview Tavern on Thursday May 23 at 6:30p.m.
The event celebrates women’s contributions to the ever growing world of craft beer, and will feature ladies and their beers from Two Brothers Brewing, Goose Island, Rock Bottom Chicago, Lagunitas, Greenbush Brewing, Metropolitan, 4 Paws Brewing, Temperance Beer Company, Flossmoor Station, and local craft beer store Bottles and Cans.
Beyond just drinking beers with some accomplished women in the craft beer scene, your beer purchases will benefit Chicago’s chapter of “Dress for Success,” a charity that promotes economic independence by providing professional clothing and resources to disadvantaged women.
A screening of the documentary, “The Love of Beer” is also scheduled. “The Love of Beer” focuses on the rise of women in the beer industry.
And, if all this isn’t enough, there will also be a special tapping of a collaborative beer, cheekily named “99 Problems.” The beer, a saison with ginger and chamomile, was brewed by Jennifer Piotter of Greenbush, Hayley Shine of Rock Bottom, Ashleigh Arnold, Maryhelen Harper, and Ashley Hunsader of Two Brothers, Tracy Hurst of Metropolitan, Claudia Jendron of Temperance Beer Company, and Jessica Murphy of Girls Like Beer Too.
This event is open to the public, starts at 6:30 p.m., and no advanced ticketing is necessary.
Riverview Tavern is located at 1958 W Roscoe St. Chicago, IL
