We've been following rumors that cult favorite Shake Shack was headed to Chicago since late last year, and it's now official: Shake Shack is absolutely, positively coming to Chicago. In 2014.

Sorry if we got your hopes up there. It'll be a long while yet before you can get your hands on any of those tasty burgers. Eater Chicago broke the news last Friday, but didn't have any details. Today, DNA Chicago spoke with a representative from the company.

"We're pleased to report that Shake Shack is coming to Chicago in late 2014," Shake Shack spokesman Greg Waters confirmed to Chicago via email. Waters said a formal announcement will be made sometime late Monday or early Tuesday.

Location hasn't been announced yet, but rumors keep swirling that the chain is taking over the Harley Davidson location at 66 E. Ohio. Fun fact you may not have known: Shake Shack is owned by the same group that owns Eleven Madison Park, the best restaurant in the United States. Alinea, it's time to open a burger joint.
