17 Abandoned Puppies Found Near Indiana Dunes

A woman was driving in Northwest Indiana when she came upon a dog and 17 puppies that someone had abandoned by the side of the road near Indiana Dunes. The pups are now safe at the Lakeshore PAWS shelter (and will be soon available for adoption), thanks to the driver, Karen Read.

She stopped and started gathering the pups, but she couldn't handle it all her self. NWI Times writes:

She and some local residents gathered up the puppies that were running off in all directions, down the road and off the road, some into a nearby creek.

Her husband came from the west and picked up eight more puppies running loose along Waverly Road.

Police are looking for a gold SUV that was spotted leaving the pups. PAWS says the puppies appear to all be lab mixes from at least two different litters, from 6 to 12 weeks old. And "they're hilarious." See video of the pups below.
