A South Side woman who allegedly punched a Chicago Police Officer and dragged the cop with her SUV has been charged with attempted murder.
Catherine Brown, 38, was stopped by the officer and her partner for a traffic violation around 9 p.m. Monday night near the 8300 block of South Kerfoot. When the officers approached Brown, she allegedly punched the female officer, grabbed her vest and sped off, dragging the cop along her vehicle. The cop was eventually released before Brown crashed her vehicle.
The officer was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital, treated for her injuries and released. Chicago Police News Affairs Officer Ron Gaines told the Sun-Times her injuries “could have been a lot worse.”
Brown was also taken to a local hospital and is expected in bond court Wednesday. In addition to the attempted murder charge, she’s accused of failing to carry a driver’s license.
