2013_6_5_CoolMemories.jpg We came across Cool Memories for the first time last night at a Logan Square house show, and now we’re hooked. The local 4-piece have actually been around for a while, doing the experimental pop thing around Chicago since 2009, though their performances are hard to come by and are often held at hush-hush DIY venues that you enter through the alley.

2009 is also the year they released their debut album, Debt, but it’s one worth digging out of the vault. It starts out gently with the sensuous, swaying rhythms of “A Good Man Is Hard To Find”—tender foreplay before they take you through of a world of warm and dreamy melodies, luscious synth, piano, delicate vocals and the occasional rough groan.
