Beer
Congratulations to Solemn Oath Brewery, which is celebrating its one-year anniversary just as Chicago Craft Beer Week begins. The Naperville brewery has fast become one of the brightest stars in the area's local beer scene and they're having an anniversary party 6 p.m. May 17 at The Bavarian Lodge in Lisle. (One of the suburbs' best breweries teaming up with one of the suburbs' best beer bars? Sign us up!) To highlight the past 12 months they'll be tapping Mr. Inappropriate (Belgian Wheat Ale), Kidnapped By Vikings (American IPA), Oxford Comma (Spiced Belgian Blonde Ale), Ultrahighfrequency (American Red Ale), Ticklefight (Barley Wine Ale)
E-Ville (American Brown Ale), Whisper Kisses (Strong Belgian Farmhouse Ale), Snaggletooth Bandana (Fruity American IPA), Butterfly Flashmob (Belgian IPA) and pouring firkins of Ultrahighfrequency (Cask Dry-Hopped w/Fuggles) and Snaggletooth Bandana (Cask Dry-Hopped w/Chinook). (1800 Ogden Ave., Lisle)
Bar Crawl
Just so everything isn't dominated by CCBW, the Librarian Pub Crawl May 18 will raise funds for Bernie's Book Bank while promoting the importance of libraries and literacy. the crawl kicks off 6:15 p.m. at The Atlantic Bar and Grill (5062 N. Lincoln Ave.), is routed so the crawl is easy to navigate on foot (so long as you moderate your alcohol consumption) and will stay 45 minutes at each of the participating bars. Wristbands for the crawl cost $10 and there will be raffles throughout the evening. Register online for the crawl here.
