Jimmy Whispers headlines The Hideout tonight.

Not all trifectas involve “the yapper, the snapper, and the crapper”. Tonight, the hideout delivers a pop/rock/psych trifecta featuring three stellar local acts.

Jimmy Whispers headlines tonight’s show. If you’re not familiar, it’s no surprise—it’s the solo project of James Cicero (frontman of Light Pollution), and this guy doesn’t seem to be a big fan of the Internet as a means of music distribution. And his music also reflects an inclination for the low-key: lo-fi pop with vulnerable vocals and shamelessly lovesick lyrics.

Supporting Jimmy Whispers are garage-rockers/Chicagoist favorites Magic Milk and the bluesy psych rock of Names Divine. Along with featuring these three acts, tonight’s show will present a DJ set by Bobby Burg, who you may be familiar with from Joan of Arc and Love of Everything. To get you in the mood for tonight, here’s a Chic-A-Go-Go! video of Jimmy Whispers from March:

Jimmy Whispers, Magic Milk, and Names Divine play tonight, Friday, May 24 at The Hideout, 1354 W Wabansia, 10 p.m., $7, 21+
