Chicago gets its first Smashburger next week, when the chain opens an outpost at 2031 N. Clybourn Ave.
There are already 10 Smashburger locations in the suburbs and there are plans to open more restaurants in the city.
The Denver-based burger chain makes burgers by smashing Angus beef into patties. There's a menu of burgers like the mushroom swiss, with garlic sautéed mushrooms, aged Swiss cheese, and mayo on an egg bun, as well as the option to build your own burger. The menu also features chicken sandwiches, hot dogs, milkshakes, and fries. While the Lincoln Park location does not have a liquor license, the plan is to obtain one and serve local craft beers.
