Blues fans won't want to miss the June 4 screening of "Muddy Waters and The Rolling Stones - Checkboard Lounge - Live Chicago 1981" with guest appearances by Buddy Guy, Junior Wells, and Lefty Dizz.
The Millennium Park events calendar is full of great ways to get outside and enjoy summer in Chicago with some free entertainment. This year, Mayor Rahm Emanuel and the Chicago Department of Cultural Affairs are adding to the list with a new summer film series at Jay Pritzker Pavilion in Millennium Park. The series officially kicks off Tuesday, June 18, with a tribute to Roger Ebert and a screening of the musical "Chicago." Films will be screened every Tuesday evening June 4 through August 20.
The sophisticated outdoor screen combined with the Pavilion's state-of-the-art sound system will be sure to deliver a high quality film experience for moviegoers. The screen is a permanent addition to the Pritzker Pavilion and measures 40 feet long and 22.5 feet high. The LED system and technology are comparable to that of a giant-screen TV and should make for great viewing even at the back of the lawn seating area. Films will begin at 6:30 p.m., with the exception of the June 11 presentation of "The Triplets of Belleville," shown as part of Chicago Bike Week, which will begin at dusk.
The selection of films features several musicals including "Dream Girls" and "Cabaret," classics like "Singin' in the Rain" and "Funny Face," music-centric films "Amadeus" and "Buena Vista Social Club" and films kids will love like "The Jungle Book." Below is a full list of films. We recommend that you show up early, as Pavilion seats are first come, first served and lawn seating may reach capacity.
